UQ aces international university rankings

UQ has aced international rankings this month, maintaining its position among the world's top 50 universities, and ranked #1 in Australia in the Nature Index of high-quality research outputs.

In the 2019 QS World University Ranking, UQ has ranked 48th globally and number one in Queensland. UQ performed in the top five per cent of more than 1000 universities placed in the global rankings that measure a university’s performance across a number of indicators including academic reputation, teaching quality and research output.

In this year's Nature Index of high-quality research outputs, UQ is also the top-ranked institution in Australia, climbing from third in Australia last year to regain first position on the 2018 Top Institutions table. The Nature Index tables are based on weighted fractional counts of high-quality natural sciences research outputs published in Nature Index journals. The University’s global position jumped 17 places, to 110 in the world.
