9 March 2020

The official merchandiser of The University of Queensland has UQ Reconciliation merchandise available to purchase in store and online.

The UQ Shop’s Reconciliation collection heroes the artwork “A Guidance Through Time” by Quandamooka artists, Casey Coolwell and Kyra Mancktelow.  The Artwork was launched in May 2019 to inspire Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous students, staff and communities to realise commitments made in UQ’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. A Guidance Through Time represents not only UQ’s past but also its present and future initiatives in reconciliation and Australian Higher Education.

Sporting a UQ Reconciliation collection tie, Bryan Pryde, CEO, UQ Sport said this is a unique opportunity for UQ Sport to meaningfully contribute to reconciliation through profits from the sale of the merchandise going to UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student scholarships and programs.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement), Professor Bronwyn Fredericks attended the launch with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit Director, Professor Tracey Bunda and Professorand acclaimed author, Anita Heiss, who checked out the merchandise first hand.

“To see this merchandise and Casey and Kyra’s artwork on this first release in the range is wonderful.  So pleased to see the beautiful and vibrant water bottles, notebooks, lanyards, bags and ties on the shelves.

“And the opportunity to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students just fills me with pride,” said Professor Fredericks.
