It's incredible to think how drastically the world and its workforce have evolved over the last decade. Rapid advancements in technology, shifting social dynamics and new industry norms have changed the game in today’s job market. Many jobs that were prevalent in 2013 have become obsolete, while new and exciting career opportunities have emerged. 

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering 'what do I actually want to do with my life?', here are 10 unconventional careers that you may not have considered.

1. Virtual reality (VR) game developer

Design and develop immersive virtual reality games that provide users with interactive and engaging experiences, leveraging the capabilities of VR technology. 

2. Ethical hacking and cybersecurity

With the growing threat of cybercrime, ethical hacking and cybersecurity have become critical fields. If you’re interested in technology and problem-solving, consider exploring careers in ethical hacking, digital forensics, cybersecurity consulting, or even working for government agencies. 

3. User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design

UX/UI design focuses on creating seamless and engaging user experiences for digital products and services. If you have an eye for design, empathy for users, and a passion for technology, check out careers in UX/UI design across industries like tech, e-commerce, and media.

4. Nonprofit and social impact organisations

If you’re passionate about making a positive change in society, explore careers in nonprofit organisations, non-government organisations or social enterprises. These organisations focus on various important causes such as education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, or human rights advocacy.
