Dr Chadden Hunter filming an orca

From living with baboons in Ethiopia to surviving an encounter with polar bears in Canada, find out how a chance meeting with Sir David Attenborough forever changed the life of UQ science graduate Dr Chadden Hunter.

After graduating from UQ with a Bachelor of Science ('93) and First Class Honours in Zoology ('95), Dr Chadden Hunter went to Ethiopia to study gelada baboons for his PhD. It was there that he met Sir David Attenborough, who visited the site for his Life of Mammals series.

Dr Hunter has gone on to work with Attenborough on documentaries around the world, and has amassed an impressive list of credits, including producer/director on Planet Earth 2 and Seven Worlds – One Planet, co-series producer of BBC’s Wild Arabia and National Geographic’s Cliffhangers, and principal director of the Wild Arabia and Frozen Planet series.

"What I realised after meeting David Attenborough and working with film crews was that if I wanted to reach more people and share my love of nature with a greater audience, media was actually a more powerful tool to use."
