Soils For Science, working in coordination with Microbes Australia, will provide Australian home and land owners, schools, community, social and sporting groups and others, with educational material on antibiotics and antibiotic discovery through a website and mobile app, and soil sampling kit. Anyone can collect and return soils to UQ's Institute for Molecular Bioscience where they will be applied to agar plates to reveal backyard bacteria and fungi for our researchers to discover new antibiotics. Join us as we launch the Soils for Science program as we inform and educate the public on the importance of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance in modern healthcare, while simultaneously enabling the search for new and improved antibiotics.

World Science Festival Brisbane reinforces Queensland’s position as a knowledge economy and ignites new and challenging discussions about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) so that more and more people experience the value, impacts and wonder of science.

The festival is delivered to regional Queensland throughout the calendar year under the banner of World Science Festival Queensland.
