In Demystifying Cancer we will follow from the simplest starting point how the behaviour of cells is controlled and what goes wrong when they begin to proliferate in an abnormal manner – the basic cause of cancers. We will then enter an amazing new world, revealed by astonishing technical advances that are revolutionizing how we think about and treat cancers. The story will acknowledge the major challenges facing the field of cancer biology but, in considering alternative therapeutic approaches, have a theme of cautious optimism for the future of mankind’s battle against these fascinating diseases.
