Dr Michael Thai

In 2020, UQ is bringing you the best of St Lucia campus in a monthly events program. Join us on Thursday 20 February 2020 to launch the 3T Events program with a presentation from psychology researcher, Dr Michael Thai.

Asian Australians are chronically perceived to be culturally foreign. How do they respond to this perception and what factors can bolster the extent to which they are perceived as Australian in the eyes of others? In this 3T Talk, Dr Michael Thai will discuss his experience as an Asian Australian and his subsequent research into the complex influence heritage has on Australian national identity.

Dr Thai was Valedictorian of his graduating class in 2011 and won the prestigious 3-Minute Thesis competition in 2013. He is now a UQ psychology lecturer and researcher, and expert in identity, prejudice and intergroup relations. We are confident you will enjoy this entertaining and insightful discussion from one of UQ's highly praised academics and presenters.

This event will be held at the Women’s College. It is a short walk from UQ Lakes Bus Station and car parking is available on site.

If you have any questions about this event, or the 3T Event program, please contact the Alumni Relations and Engagement team at uqalumni@uq.edu.au or 07 3346 3166.
