Dr Arthur (Norbury) Rogers AO

Dr Norbury Rogers is a distinguished businessman and former UQ Senator. Dr Rogers graduated from UQ with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1964. He went on to forge a career with Ernst and Young and its predecessor firms, 11 years of which he spent as Queensland managing partner.

He has been a board member for the Golden Casket Lottery Corporation Limited Group, Magellan Petroleum Australia Limited and Business Management Limited, and an external member of the Risk Management and Audit Committee of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority. He is a former chair of the Australian Institute of Marine Science and Global Seafood Australia Limited, and a former director of Queensland Ports Corporation, CSIRO and QIW Ltd.

Dr Rogers was a long-term member of The University of Queensland Senate, serving four consecutive terms from 1990 until 2005. He has also been a director of UQ Holdings and chair of UniQuest Pty Ltd and UniSynd Pty Ltd.

In 2001, Dr Rogers received a Centenary Medal, as well as an Australian Sports Medal for his efforts fundraising for the Olympic movement. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2002, and in 2005, received a Doctor of Economics honoris causa from UQ.
