Mr Martin Albrecht AC FTSE Hon FIEAust. FAICD

A prominent Australian businessman experienced in Management and Directorships of a range of Resource, Engineering and Construction Organisations.

Martin was Chairman of Thiess Pty Ltd (having previously been the company’s Chief Executive) and a nonexecutive Director of Leighton Holdings Ltd for over a quarter of a century.  He is currently Chairman of Exergen and National Trunk Rail (NTR). He also served on the CEDA Board of Governors, the Federal Government Reconstruction Inspectorate and was also a Qld Govt Vocational Education Training Commission member.

Martin continues to take an active interest in a wide range of Government, community, education and cultural activities. 

He has retired as Chairman but remains a Patron of the Wesley Medical Research Institute. He was also the founding Chair of the International RiverFoundation.

Martin was made a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for service to the construction industry, export markets, the engineering profession, the community and industrial safety in 2002 and was a recipient of the Centenary Medal in 2001. The Federal Republic of Germany has also awarded him the Service “Cross of the Order of Merit – First Class” in 2000.

He has also received a number of Awards from Industry and Honorary Doctorates from University of Qld, QUT and Griffith University as well as Uni of SA in South Australia. Martin has been awarded the Engineers Australia Gold Medal award along with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (Qld) Gold Medal award.
