Professor Neva Haites became Vice-Principal for Development in September 2011, having previously been head of the College of Life Sciences and Medicine. In her new role Professor Haites will provide academic support for the work of the University's Development Trust, in addition to ongoing activities around equality and diversity and human resources.

Neva Haites is Professor of Medical Genetics and is an Honorary Consultant Clinical Geneticist and a member of the Board of NHS Grampian. She is also a member of theĀ  Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, and the Chief Scientist Committee of the Scottish Government, and is Chair of the Biomedical and Therapeutics Research Committee.

Neva Haites was born in Brisbane and studied biochemistry at the University of Queensland before moving to Aberdeen where she did her medical degree and training.
