Chancellor,
Dr Roslyn Hendriks is an accomplished entrepreneur and highly respected leader in the field of human and animal health. She has advanced innovative healthcare technologies, translating research into solutions with significant societal impact, particularly in early disease detection and treatment.
Dr Hendriks completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 1979 at The University of Queensland (UQ). In 1982, she undertook further study in medical pharmacology at the University of California Davis before returning to UQ to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in 1987. She subsequently completed a Master of Business Administration at the Queensland University of Technology in 1996, for which she was awarded the MBA Medallion.
Between 2001 and 2022, Dr Hendriks co-founded and served as Founding CEO of 3 startups: Genetrax in Australia, and Immunexpress and Tend Health in the United States. Under her leadership, these ventures raised approximately $100 million in capital, secured major regulatory approvals and successfully delivered innovative products and services to market.
As Founding CEO of Immunexpress from 2006 to 2017, Dr Hendriks led a high-performance team to develop the award-winning SeptiCyte technology – the first RNA-based multiplex molecular diagnostic to be cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration for infectious disease. This technology transformed diagnostics by enabling rapid sepsis diagnosis and was recognised internationally, including through the Medtech Insight Award in 2018 for Best Proof of Value.
Dr Hendriks remains deeply engaged with the University, with a long-standing connection to its research and innovation ecosystem dating back to 1987, when she joined UniQuest, UQ’s commercialisation company, as Business Manager before serving as General Manager from 1992 to 1994. She later served on the Board of Directors of The University of Queensland in America, Inc from 2012 to 2016, and from 2024 to 2026 was Honorary Chair of the UQ Founders’ Pledge through UQ Ventures. Dr Hendriks continues to support UQ and others across the globe by mentoring graduates and helping shape the world’s next generation of entrepreneurs.
Dr Hendriks is a Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors in the US. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Provectus Algae, Invasive Animals Limited, WearOptimo, and AU Ventures and is the Chair of the 66ten Investment Review Committee for Walter and Eliza Hall Institute Ventures, a Managing Director of C-Suite Corporate and an adviser to several new ventures in the US, Australia and South Africa.
