Dedicated to the land and their communities
Celebrating International Day of Rural Women
15 October
Each year, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Rural Women – acknowledging the integral role rural women and girls play in society.
October 15 is dedicated to the millions of women living in remote, rural places and celebrates their achievements and contributions towards rural development and agriculture.
Women contribute to the important growth and future of rural communities in Queensland and across Australia. In honour of the day, Contact is revisiting the stories of some of UQ’s remarkable rural women.
