Each year The University of Queensland celebrates the diverse achievements of our alumni with a suite of alumni awards.

These awards recognise the achievements of alumni who have accomplished outstanding success in their fields and made exemplary contributions to their community.

About the Awards

2014 University of Queensland Alumni Award Categories:

  • The Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Awards recognises the significant contributions made by University of Queensland alumni in their local communities and beyond.
  • The International Alumnus of the Year recognises and honours the outstanding achievements of an international alumnus who has realised distinction in their chosen field and whose accomplishments enhance the prestige of UQ.
  • The Distinguished Young Alumni Awards recognises young alumni (35 years or younger) whose early accomplishments inspire and provide leadership to students and all alumni.
  • The Indigenous Community Impact Award recognises an alumnus whose outstanding contribution to Australian Indigenous communities has improved outcomes for Australian Indigenous people and contributes to the reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

  • The UQ Alumnus of the Year recognises an alumnus whose distinguished achievements have brought national and/or international recognition to UQ and in whose development UQ has had a significant role.
  • Graduate(s) of the Year recognises academic merit therefore no nominations are accepted. Winner(s) are pre-determined by academic record.
