Donor recognition and giving societies

At UQ, we proudly celebrate the generosity and vision of our philanthropic community. Every gift – large or small – plays a vital role in advancing UQ’s mission to deliver excellence in education, research and community impact.

Our Donor Charter reflects our commitment to building lifelong relationships that are based on trust, transparency and respect. Donors receive regular updates on the positive change their support creates and, where appropriate, invitations to exclusive events that connect them with students, researchers and university leaders.

You can explore the difference your gifts make in the lives of students, researchers and teachers below.

Giving societies

While giving at all levels is valued at UQ, our centrally-run and faculty/institute-run giving societies have been established to specifically recognise leadership, legacy and loyalty within our donor community – as outlined below.

Mayne Circle
The Mayne Circle honours Dr James O’Neil Mayne and his sister Mary Emelia Mayne, whose generosity secured UQ’s St Lucia campus and established the UQ Medical School.

As a member, you join a society recognising those who have given at the highest level ($1m+ lifetime giving). Your support transforms the lives of students, teachers, researchers and the wider community.

You’ll enjoy opportunities to connect with the Vice-Chancellor, students and senior leaders at exclusive events, and receive annual updates on the impact of your giving.
Great Court Society
The Great Court Society honours the heart of our St Lucia campus and celebrates donors who give for 2 or more consecutive years.

Members help create world-class learning spaces, support talented students and enable research that benefits the community.

You will receive personalised annual updates and may be invited to special events to see the impact of your generosity.
Jacaranda Society
The Jacaranda Society celebrates donors who leave a gift in their will to UQ, inspiring change beyond their lifetime.

Your legacy supports generations of students, teachers and researchers, and strengthens the wider community.

Members are invited to special events like the annual Jacaranda Society High Tea, where University leaders thank you and recognise your impact.
BEL Dean Society
The BEL Dean’s Society honours donors who share a vision for excellence in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL).

Members help fund scholarships for students, support research and attract world-class educators to UQ.

You’ll enjoy invitations to special events, networking opportunities and direct access to our Executive Dean. For more information or to make your pledge, contact: advancement@bel.uq.edu.au
The Alumni Friends Society honours Australia’s first alumni network and its members.

Since 1967, Alumni Friends has contributed generously to support UQ students, researchers and educators. Through the volunteer-run UQ Alumni Book Fair® and member donations, it has established or supported more than 50 endowed scholarship and prize funds.
