Welcome to Alumni Friends

Since 1967, Alumni Friends has brought together like-minded UQ graduates in a warm and welcoming community – a place to stay connected with your university and your peers while supporting important causes.

Open to all alumni aged 60 and over, the Alumni Friends program offers opportunities to maintain a vibrant mind, an active body and social connections through a range of enriching activities and events.

Donors who have contributed $1,000 or more of lifetime giving to an Alumni Friends fund and Alumni Friends volunteers automatically become lifelong members of this special group.
A key focus of Alumni Friends is to ensure world-class tertiary education is inclusive and accessible. Funds raised by Alumni Friends have supported many important awards, prizes and scholarships, ensuring students can achieve their aspirations of studying at UQ.
A milestone event for Alumni Friends is the annual UQ Alumni Book Fair. Members of Alumni Friends are an essential part of the volunteer team who work behind-the-scenes of the Book Fair – bringing the event and its mission to fundraise for UQ initiatives to life.
A year-round program designed just for Alumni Friends – from sport and healthy living to culture, travel, lifelong learning and giving back, there's something for everyone.

Friends of Antiquity

Established in 1989, Friends of Antiquity is a special interest group within Alumni Friends that celebrates and supports the study of classics, ancient history and antiquities at UQ.

Members of Friends of Antiquity have established and maintained an important legacy of championing the study of these disciplines at UQ through a volunteer-led engagement program. While Friends of Antiquity's impact is recognised to be much broader than monetary figures, over the decades the group has raised over $400,000 in support of UQ's classics, ancient history and antiquities programs.
