Tara Nicole Turner is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) specialising in international philanthropy, multinational foundation governance, and corporate communications. With 20 years of experience in the social purpose sector, she has expertise in campaign development, major gift fundraising, grant-writing and donor stewardship.

Ms Turner is currently the Director, Global and Institutional Philanthropy at The University of Queensland, where she looks after an international portfolio of funders at the major and principal gift level. Previously, she was a key member of the Leadership Philanthropy team at the Canadian Cancer Society, where she helped to build the major giving program and develop fundraising opportunities for a $2 billion national campaign. Prior to that Ms Turner helped to raise $200 million to build a new hospital at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in Vancouver, Canada. 

With a background in Journalism and the Arts, Ms Turner is an accomplished international presenter and speaker on philanthropy for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Educate Plus, Fundraising Institute of Australia and CFRE. She is a writer and past editor/contributor for Speaking of Children magazine, the Healthcare Philanthropy Journal and other philanthropic publications.
