The Rockhampton and Gladstone Regional Roadshow will be a chance to reconnect with existing partners and explore opportunities for future collaboration and investment.

A major focus will be on strengthening relationships with schools in Rockhampton, with an emphasis on educational equity. This includes increasing awareness of pathways to UQ and progressing conversations about student placements.

We look forward to returning to Townsville and Charters Towers. This year we will focus on strengthening relationships with local councils, government stakeholders, donors, alumni and the broader community, while exploring new collaboration opportunities. Activities will include government meetings, attendance at the Townsville Industry Breakfast for regional insights and networking and school engagement in Charters Towers through strategic meetings and teacher training.

Longreach and Winton

Tuesday 19–Monday 25 May

We return once more to Winton and Longreach for activities aligned with the Festival of Outback Opera. Celebrating the involvement of UQ School of Music staff and students, highlights include the Dark Sky Serenade in Winton and the Singing in the Night performance in Longreach, while pop-up music events and pre-gala engagements in each location provide an opportunity to reconnect with locals and key stakeholders.

Mt Isa and Cloncurry

Thursday 11–Saturday 14 June

The Mt Isa and Cloncurry Regional Roadshow supports our ongoing engagement with communities across North West Queensland through education, entrepreneurship, government and community-focused activities.

The program will include strategic engagement with schools in Mt Isa to discuss UQ’s educational equity initiatives, meetings with local government representatives and community members, and a UQ stand at the Cloncurry Show in partnership with our local The Queensland Commitment Ambassador.

Mackay

Wednesday 22–Thursday 23 July

This will be the Community Engagement team’s first visit to the Mackay region as part of the Regional Roadshow program. The visit will focus on initiating broad engagement with local leaders while bringing visibility to existing partnerships.

A strategic roundtable discussion will bring UQ’s Vice-Chancellor and President together with local leaders to understand the priorities for the region and how UQ can support the community.

An alumni and community event will offer a chance to connect with more of our local UQ alumni and strengthen our engagement across Mackay.
