Regional Roadshow 2026
Beaudesert
Thursday 12 March
As the Community Engagement team’s first roadshow in Beaudesert, the program will focus on listening to community needs and strengthening relationships around educational access and regional priorities. We are already working with UQ Alumni from Beaudesert and we look forward to meeting with other community leaders to learn more about the area.
Gold Coast
Wednesday 25 March
The Gold Coast Regional Roadshow will bring together business, industry and community stakeholders for a Building Business Excellence Masterclass – Building Competitive Advantage – delivered by UQ Executive Education in partnership with Business Chamber Queensland. This is the first of 4 workshops in the series for 2026, designed to bring UQ’s expertise into the regions to support local business prosperity.

Sunshine Coast
Thursday 23 April
The Sunshine Coast Regional Roadshow will bring together business, industry and community stakeholders for a Building Business Excellence Masterclass – Building Competitive Advantage – delivered by UQ Executive Education in partnership with Business Chamber Queensland. This is the second of 4 workshops in the 2026 series, designed to bring UQ’s expertise into the regions to support local business prosperity.

Rockhampton and Gladstone
Wednesday 29–Thursday 30 April
The Rockhampton and Gladstone Regional Roadshow will be a chance to reconnect with existing partners and explore opportunities for future collaboration and investment.
A major focus will be on strengthening relationships with schools in Rockhampton, with an emphasis on educational equity. This includes increasing awareness of pathways to UQ and progressing conversations about student placements.
Townsville and Charters Towers
Wednesday 13–Thursday 14 May
We look forward to returning to Townsville and Charters Towers. This year we will focus on strengthening relationships with local councils, government stakeholders, donors, alumni and the broader community, while exploring new collaboration opportunities. Activities will include government meetings, attendance at the Townsville Industry Breakfast for regional insights and networking and school engagement in Charters Towers through strategic meetings and teacher training.
Longreach and Winton
Tuesday 19–Monday 25 May
We return once more to Winton and Longreach for activities aligned with the Festival of Outback Opera. Celebrating the involvement of UQ School of Music staff and students, highlights include the Dark Sky Serenade in Winton and the Singing in the Night performance in Longreach, while pop-up music events and pre-gala engagements in each location provide an opportunity to reconnect with locals and key stakeholders.
Mt Isa and Cloncurry
Thursday 11–Saturday 14 June
The Mt Isa and Cloncurry Regional Roadshow supports our ongoing engagement with communities across North West Queensland through education, entrepreneurship, government and community-focused activities.
The program will include strategic engagement with schools in Mt Isa to discuss UQ’s educational equity initiatives, meetings with local government representatives and community members, and a UQ stand at the Cloncurry Show in partnership with our local The Queensland Commitment Ambassador.
Mackay
Wednesday 22–Thursday 23 July
This will be the Community Engagement team’s first visit to the Mackay region as part of the Regional Roadshow program. The visit will focus on initiating broad engagement with local leaders while bringing visibility to existing partnerships.
A strategic roundtable discussion will bring UQ’s Vice-Chancellor and President together with local leaders to understand the priorities for the region and how UQ can support the community.
An alumni and community event will offer a chance to connect with more of our local UQ alumni and strengthen our engagement across Mackay.
And the third of 4 workshops in Building Business Excellence Masterclass – Building Competitive Advantage – will be delivered by UQ Executive Education in partnership with Business Chamber Queensland.

Cherbourg and Kingaroy
July Dates TBC
The Cherbourg and Kingaroy Regional Roadshow will be the Community Engagement team’s first official visit to these communities as part of the Regional Roadshow program. The visit will build on existing UQ relationships and support new connections with local leaders, alumni and the broader community.
In Cherbourg, we will work with the UQ Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Behavioural Sciences’ Indigenous Engagement team to connect with local Elders, schools and businesses, to understand their priorities and ensure they directly shape the future of UQ engagement initiatives in the community.
Cairns
Thursday 13–Saturday 15 August
The Cairns Regional Roadshow will build on UQ’s first visit to the region last year, continuing engagement with local government, community, alumni and partners across a range of activities. The program will support the launch of National Science Week, highlight UQ research and focus on strengthening relationships and collaboration opportunities in the region.
Toowoomba
Saturday 19–Sunday 20 September
The Toowoomba Regional Roadshow will once again feature our annual Boyce Gardens event during Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. With guided tours around the gardens led by UQ academics and live music to boost the atmosphere, the free family-friendly event brings together our alumni and the broader Toowoomba community as we showcase UQ’s presence in the region.
We will also host local leaders and UQ collaborators to celebrate existing partnerships and strengthen the opportunities for collaboration in the region in future.
Wide Bay (Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay)
Thursday 8–Saturday 10 October
The Wide Bay Regional Roadshow will engage communities across Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay through activities with local government, schools, alumni and community stakeholders. The program will provide opportunity to strengthen already established connections and collaborations and unearth new opportunities, while recognising the diversity and strengths of the Wide Bay region.
Longreach
Wednesday 21 October
The Longreach Regional Roadshow will bring together business, industry and community stakeholders for a Building Business Excellence Masterclass – Building Competitive Advantage – delivered by UQ Executive Education in partnership with Business Chamber Queensland. This is the third time we have brought business innovation workshops to Longreach and is the final of 4 workshops in the 2026 series, all designed to support local business prosperity.

Ipswich and West Moreton

Regional Roadshow activities across Ipswich, West Moreton, Logan and Redlands will support ongoing engagement with schools, government and community stakeholders. The program will focus on education pathways, technology and innovation, and community connection through sport, including UQ’s collaboration with UiLab and sponsorship of the Queensland Firebirds.
