Mr Martin Albrecht, AC
Chancellor, Mr Martin Albrecht, AC, is Chairman of Thiess Pty Ltd and a director of Leighton Holdings Ltd.
He was Chief Executive Officer of Thiess Pty Ltd from 1985 to 2000, during which time the company's turnover increased from $190million to $1.8billion.
He was instrumental in the establishment of the International RiverFoundation, which addresses issues related to sustainable water use and protection and restoration of rivers and waterways, and is the foundation's current Chairman.
He is also Chair of Geodynamics Ltd, and the Wesley Medical Research Institution Foundation Board.
Mr Albrecht was a director of companies including Queensland Gas Ltd, Portman Ltd and the Siemens Australia Advisory Board. He is a member of the Queensland Premier's Business Round Table and a former member of the Advisory Board of the James Foots Institute for Mineral Research and the School of Engineering at The University of Queensland.
He received the Companion of Australia for services to industry in 2002 and a Centenary Medal in 2003.
