Professor Jeffrey (Jeff) Mann AM

Professor Jeff Mann is a lawyer and academic with a particular interest in revenue law. He attended the Church of England Grammar School (now the Anglican Church Grammar School), before undertaking tertiary studies at The University of Queensland to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in 1966, a Bachelor of Laws in 1968, and a Master of Laws in 1984.

Throughout his legal career he has consulted for both private organisations and government departments. He is the author of Law of Stamp Duties in Queensland, first published in 1981, and Duties Legislation in Queensland, first published in 2001.

In 2006, he became Professor and Director of the Australian Centre of Commerce, Law and Tax at UQ. In 2013, alongside UQ colleague Professor John Mangan, he established the Economics and Law Research Institute. From 2014 until 2016 he worked in management roles in the Office of State Revenue.

Professor Mann was named a Member of the Order of Australia in 2000, and in 2001 received a Doctor of Laws honoris causa from UQ. He is a former president of the Tax Institute of Australia and the Queensland Law Society.
