The Honourable Justice Martin Daubney AM practiced as a barrister in litigation and mediation from 1988 until his judicial appointment in 2007. He was appointed senior counsel in 2000. He has held several notable positions in the Queensland legal system, including service on the Council of the Bar Association of Queensland for more than ten years, during which he was elected vice-president in 2005 and president in 2006.
In 2007 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland, and as president of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal in 2017. He continues in those roles today.
Daubney has also held various roles within the University, and has been an active participant in University colleges. He served on the Senate of the University of Queensland from 2010 to 2017, and as president of King’s College Council from 2009 to 2015. Daubney was a resident at King’s College from 1980-81, and has been a Fellow of King’s College since 2007 and the Patron of the King’s College Foundation since 2016. During his involvement in King’s College, he has served as a mentor and support for many of its students.
Daubney’s work continues into the wider community, including as co-founder of the Order of Malta’s ‘Coats for the Homeless’ program in Queensland. He has also been a prominent member of the Catholic Church in Brisbane, serving on the Archdiocesan Finance Council since 2011 (chair since 2018) and numerous other committees.
