Join UQ’s Friends of Antiquity at the May Sunday Series event, titled 'Greece and the birth of medicine and law’.
The culture of ancient Greece is foundational in the story of the development of medicine and law. From the Hippocratic oath to the jury trial, the legacy of the ancient Greeks can still be felt today.In this special Sunday Series event, Professor Alastair Blanshard, Dr Paul Eliadis AM and Michael Halliday will critically examine the significant contributions of the ancient Greeks to the fields of medicine and law, considering their profound insights and misjudgements that accompanied them.
Professor Blanshard will introduce how the Greeks practiced medicine and law, followed by Dr Eliadis AM and Mr Halliday discussing the legacy of the Greeks today.
This lecture will be followed by afternoon tea.
