3T event: innovation for the future – experience UQ Gatton
Join us for an immersive behind-the-scenes experience at UQ Gatton, where agriculture, animal science and innovation come to life on one of Australia’s most unique teaching and research campuses.
At this 3T event, you’ll explore the Queensland Animal Science Precinct, tour the UQVETS Small Animal Hospital and the Equine Hospital, and hear from Professor Michael Bell, Chair in Tropical Agronomy in the School of Agriculture and Food Sustainability. He’ll share insights into UQ Gatton research that’s exploring innovative strategies for increasing global food production by 50%, to feed the growing world population.
You will also have the opportunity to take in the rich legacy of the Gatton campus with morning tea served in the historic Foundation Building, lunch in the Dining Hall and an optional tour of the UQ Gatton Museum.

Date: Wednesday 24 September 2025
Time: 7:30am (optional bus**) for 8:45am–2:25pm
Cost: $35 includes morning tea and buffet lunch
Schedule:
7:30am (sharp): Optional bus departs UQ St Lucia (Chancellor's Place, outside QBP) for UQ Gatton arriving at 8:45am.
8:45–9:30am: All guests to meet at the UQ Gatton sign, followed by a short walk up the Central Walkway, led by a UQ Gatton student ambassador.
9:30–10am: Morning tea in the historic Foundation Building.
10–11am: Presentation from Professor Michael Bell and Q&A.
11am–12pm: Tour of UQVETS Small Animal Hospital and Equine Hospital.
12–1pm: Lunch in the Dining Hall with welcome from Susan Frost, Gatton Campus Director.
1–2pm: Tour of the Queensland Animal Science Precinct and Equine Unit.
2:25pm: Bus departs UQ Gatton for UQ St Lucia, arriving at 3:50pm.
** Attendees can meet at UQ Gatton or take advantage of the complimentary return bus service departing from UQ St Lucia.
