Join UQ's Friends of Antiquity for the May Sunday Series lecture, 'From Scraps of Papyrus to a Thriving Museum – the Value of Antiquities Collections', and uncover how a small collection of artefacts evolved into the fully established RD Milns Antiquities Museum.

Drawing on his recently published research, Manager and Curator James Donaldson will explore the early history of the museum at UQ from 1950 to 1975, as well as the enduring value of antiquities collections for research and education.

Donaldson will bring together the people, places and objects that shaped the Museum’s foundations and offer a fascinating insight into the broader story of antiquities collections across Australian universities and their role in preserving and interpreting the ancient world.
