The 2026 Alan Cooper Epiderm Lecture, hosted by the Dermatology Research Centre, Frazer Institute will be an engaging conversation on the topic of sun safety in sport delivered by keynote speaker Professor Monika Janda.

Skin cancer remains one of the most common cancers in Australia, with outdoor sporting environments contributing to significant ultraviolet (UV) exposure for athletes, officials, volunteers, and spectators. Following the lecture, Professor Janda will be joined by a panel of experts from sport, research, dermatology, and public health to explore how sun safety can be more effectively embedded into sporting culture:

  • Mr Sam Short OLY, Australian Swimmer and World Champion
  • Dr Justin Crow, Head of Health, Queensland Academy of Sport
  • Associate Professor Simone Goldinger, Senior Principal Research Fellow, Frazer Institute, The University of Queensland and Consultant Dermatologist, Princess Alexandra Hospital

The 2026 Alan Cooper Epiderm Lecture promises to be an insightful and impactful evening with canapes and beverages served both before and after the presentation.
