Cutting Edge: A gala dinner by Fashion Queensland and the Institute for Molecular Bioscience
11 July 2024 6:30pm–9:30pm
Join UQ's Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and Fashion Queensland for a gala dinner and design showcase of one-off custom pieces directly inspired by IMB science.
Cutting Edge is the culmination of months of work, years of research, and is a celebration of emergent discoveries and artisanal craft.
Designers George Wu, Kiara and Bianca Bulley (Bulley Bulley), Briana Enoch (Jarawee), Joshua Djordjewitsch (Djordjewitsch) and Joash Teo (Joteo) will each present a one-off custom piece directly inspired by IMB science.
From spider venom to medicine in plants the designs celebrate world-leading artisanal innovation at the intersection of science and arts.
Experience a behind-the-scenes look into the creation process of each design and enjoy an insightful panel discussion.
You will be treated to a two-course dinner and three-hour premium beverage package in the iconic whale mall at Queensland Museum Kurilpa.
Dress code: Creative. Please dress warmly as this is an outdoor event.
