Scholarships create bright futures

A lifetime of service came full circle in 2008 when the Frank Finn Scholarships were established to celebrate the career of Emeritus Professor Frank Finn.

Since 2008, two scholarships have been awarded each year. However in 2020 – with the ongoing support of donors like you – this grew to eight scholarships awarded annually; six more students will now benefit from much-needed support each year.

For one of the 2020 Frank Finn scholars, Victoria Ng (pictured), this scholarship was the difference between having to defer studying to work to support family, and being able to continue at UQ and land a graduate position with a prestigious investment bank.

“The Frank Finn Scholarship has played a pivotal role during one of the toughest years of my degree,” says Ng. “It enabled me to remain a full-time student during these trying times by providing much needed financial support.

“This year, I started my career as a graduate analyst at Goldman Sachs. One of the requirements for commencement with the firm was a completed undergraduate degree, which would not have been possible if I’d had to reduce my educational commitments to support my family financially.”
