Centre for Solar Biotechnology (IMB)

By 2050 the global population is expected to exceed 9.6 billion. We will need 70% more food, 50% more fuel, 50% more water and over 80% CO2 emissions reductions. The Centre for Solar Biotechnology is working at the nexus of these challenges,  harnessing solar energy, and recycled water, nutrients and CO2 to produce livestock feeds, sustainable human nutrition, next generation clean fuels and bio-therapeutics, and purified water. Implementing biotechnologies on non-arable land will eliminate degradation of fresh water and arable land, and conserve pristine environments.
