What’s an alumni network?
An alumni network is a community of connected people who have attended the same university. They may have graduated at different times and be working in different industries, but through their alumni network they are able to support each other and stay connected to their alma mater.

What’s involved in being part of an alumni network?
In short, as little or as much as you’d like! We understand that life gets busy, so as a start, we recommend attending an event and engaging in your network’s online group. From there, you could become an ambassador for the network, organise networking events,  join the network’s advisory group or become an alumni mentor.

What do I get out of it?
The more you give, the more you’ll get! Our networks are here to help and support you to find connections, shape alumni engagement activities, progress your career and develop your professional skills. Once you sign up, it’s up to you to engage with your network online, attend events and share your voice! If you have any questions, we’ll always be here to help along the way.

Does it cost anything to be part of an Alumni Network?
No – joining your alumni network is completely free! Each network will offer different events and opportunities that may have associated costs, but these activities will be optional.

I live in a remote area of my country, can I still be involved?
Yes! If you have access to the internet, you have access to your network. From mentoring, to online events and your network’s group page – there are plenty of ways to stay connected online.

How do I join my network’s advisory committee?
We’re in the process of establishing advisory committees for each alumni network around the world. The role of a committee member is to be a champion of the network and to provide advisory, planning and execution assistance for programming and engagement initiatives.

If you would like to be involved, we’d love to hear from you! Contact uqchangemakers@uq.edu.au to express your interest.
