Honorary award citation

An Honorary Doctorates (Doctor of Economics honoris causa) was conferred on Mr Edward Evans AC in 2012.

Dr Evans has extensive experience in the financial sector, having joined the Australian Treasury in 1969. He has held positions such as Deputy Secretary and Secretary to the Australian Treasury; member of the Australian Permanent Delegation to the OECD in Paris; Executive Director on the Board of the International Monetary Fund; Director of Reserve Bank of Australia; and Director of Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

In 1999, he was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia for his services to the development of Australian economic policy and in 2001 he was awarded a Centenary Medal for service to the nation as Secretary to the Treasury.
