Colin established the Mackay Branch of the Gatton College Old Boys in 1948. He was voted “Gatton Old Boy of the year” in 1974 and received the Council Gold Medal from the Gatton College Council in 1995 for services to the sugar industry.
He joined the Bureau of Sugar Experimental Stations in 1935 and was Officer-in-Charge of the Mackay Station from 1946 until his retirement in 1962.
He served in the AIF and was commissioned in 1944.
In 1979, Col was awarded an MBE for his service to the sugar industry and the community.
