Mr Michel Mamet

Adjunct Professor

Michel has over 20 years of experience in investment banking in Australia and the U.S. Michel joined Flagstaff Partners in 2009 and prior to joining Flagstaff Partners, was with Morgan Stanley and UBS, initially in Melbourne as part of the resources and energy group and subsequently in Dallas, Houston and New York.

Michel has advised on over 60 transactions across a variety of sectors including energy, mining and infrastructure sectors. He has worked on a broad range of transactions including M&A, initial public offerings, secondary offerings, structured finance, high yield and investment grade bond offerings. Whilst at Flagstaff Partners, Michel advised on several notable transactions including the sale of Jemena and Veolia's interests in the AquaNet water recycled project, the sale of Mercury’s smart meter business Metrix to intellihub for $255m, Mineral Deposits' $632m takeover defence of a hostile takeover offer by ERAMET S.A., Mighty River Power’s (now Mercury Energy’s) NZ$3.5 billion IPO,  Eastern Star Gas’ $924 million acquisition by Santos and the divestment of Burrup Holdings to Yara International and Apache Energy for US$582 million. Significant transactions prior to Flagstaff included advising Anadarko on their simultaneous acquisition of Kerr McGee and Western Gas Resources for $31 billion in cash, related financings and subsequent asset divestments, BG Group’s $6 billion acquisition of Queensland Gas Corporation (QGC), Ausnet’s attempted $8 billion acquisition of Singapore Power’s Alinta business and the successful $11 billion takeover defence of Woodside Energy.

Michel is an Adjunct Professor in the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, is a Board member of ChangeMakers (a group of high level alumni driving the alumni community strategy), an Emeritus Ambassador of the University of Queensland Alumni Council in Melbourne (Chair from 2013-2018) and is still actively involved with UQ.
