Hear from Librarian Simon Farley about some of the treasures of Australian literature held in UQ’s Fryer Library, then enjoy an opportunity to examine and handle items in a special interactive display. Attendees will have the opportunity to get up-close to rare books and original manuscripts from legendary Australian writers like Henry Lawson and David Malouf. After the talk, enjoy a cheese and charcuterie grazing table before heading over to the UQ Alumni Book Fair, where you can browse until 9pm.

We also encourage attendees to consider a reservation at the beautiful new Patina Alumni Court restaurant for dinner following the event. To reserve a table, visit the restaurant’s website.

The Fryer Library and Alumni Friends
This event is offered in conjunction with the Alumni Friends UQ Alumni Book Fair (29 April–2 May 2022). Alumni Friends members and volunteers have contributed to the Fryer Library in many ways over the last 50+ years – through financial contributions, the active pursuit of manuscripts, and building links with the public and potential donors. Since 1979, the UQ Alumni Book Fair (R) has also been a source of financial contributions and books for the Fryer Library.

To learn more about Alumni Friends, including membership and volunteering opportunities, visit the Alumni Friends website.
