Join us in person for the July Sunday Series Event titled: Translating Homer, presented by Emeritus Professor Barry Nurcombe. The in-person event will be held at The University of Queensland Forgan Smith Building, followed by afternoon tea.

Emeritus Professor Nurcombe's translation of Homer's poem, Iliad is now published in two volumes by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and he recently began translating a second poem, Odyssey. In this presentation, he will discuss these poems and describe the translator's task in rendering them into English. 
 
Meet the Presenter:
 
Emeritus Professor Barry Nurcombe
 
Dr Nurcombe graduated MBBS (with first class honours) from The University of Queensland in 1955 and has had a long and extensive career in child and adolescent psychiatry locally and internationally. In September 2001, he became an Emeritus Professor at UQ and during his academic career, Dr Nurcombe published numerous scientific articles, and was the author and co-author of numerous books.
