Established through an endowment from the Estate of Professor Edna Chamberlain, this will be the first annual Chamberlain Oration for Social Justice, hosted by the UQ School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.

Beginning her academic career at UQ in 1967, Professor Chamberlain was later appointed as Professor of Social Work. She was the first woman to hold a Chair in social work in Australia. The Oration celebrates Professor Chamberlain's commitment to social justice.

Adjunct Professor Matt Foley will chair an expert panel comprising leading authors to discuss: "Literature and Social Justice: Can great writing change the world?".

Panel members include Rick Morton, Al Campbell and Dr June Paisa Perkins.
