This concert features world premieres of a collection of new works by members of the ensemble. Max Fitzgerald captures the spirit of old Westerns with his overture, and also creates a medley of music from Super Mario games.
Sophia Mackson explores ecstatic textures of lush orchestration in "Revise". A calm resonance pervades Chiron Moon's pastoral "A Pond". Matthew Moss combines genres in his prog-related "Haunted Necklace" song. For Aarya Dath, the inspiration for his "Limits and Sequences" is mathematical conundrums and illusions, like the "Shepherd Tone", which he translates into rhythm - the music sounds like it never stops speeding up. Nikolas Pradana brings his background playing gamelan at home in Indonesia with Western jazz to create a fascinating hybrid in "Griya".
