As part of the UQ Regional Roadshow in Moreton Bay, we'll take you on an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at UQ's world-leading marine research hub, the Moreton Bay Research Station

On this family-friendly day out, we'll take you on a deep dive into the marine conservation work happening at the Research Station. Experience hands-on activities, learn something new from our resident experts and enjoy this stunning location which is only a short drive and ferry ride from Brisbane. 

This event will run from 9:30am-2pm:

  • 9.30am – 10.30am: Morning tea and official welcome
  • 10.30am – 2.00pm: Plan your day with a range of activities

Cost: $20 per adult* / no cost for children. Includes morning tea and all activities. All proceeds will go to supporting research at the Moreton Bay Research Station.

  • 11:30 to 12:15: Kids workshop: The Secret World of Corals – Upstairs lecture room

  • 12:00 to 12:30: The remarkable recovery of the east Australian humpback whales - Professor Mike Noad – Downstairs lecture room

  • 12:15 to 12:45: Ground penetrating radar - Australian archaeology – Grass in front of the Station

  • 12:30 to 13:00: Mud rising in Moreton Bay - Dr Alistair Grinham – Downstairs lecture room

  • 12:30 to 13:00: Presentation: Ned Heaton, The Turtle Tribe – Upstairs lecture room

  • 13:00 to 13:30: Science troupe demonstration – MBRS courtyard

  • 13:00 to 14:00: Goompi Trail - Indigenous knowledge sharing – Grass in front of the Station

All day events:
  • Marine stalls  –Upstairs kitchen and balcony

  • Touch tank – MBRS courtyard

  • Equipment display – MBRS courtyard (grassed area)
