How should I travel to the St Lucia campus for Back to UQ?

Back to UQ will take place on Open Day, the busiest day of the year on campus, to give you the chance to enjoy the exciting buzz of this major event. Due to the volume of people attending campus, parking will be limited, and traffic is to be expected. We recommend that you travel by public transport if possible, or by taxi, rideshare, or pre-arranged drop-off if available to you. The best drop-off location will be Chancellor's Place.

What parking will be available?

Information on parking locations at St Lucia campus can be found on the UQ Parking and Transport website. If you need to drive, we suggest you contact some classmates attending the event to see if you can arrange a carpool.

Can I bring children or other guests to Back to UQ activities?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring kids or other guests to Back to UQ activities, but they must each be registered as your guest(s) for the activities they will be attending. All attendees, including kids, must be registered for activities so that we can adhere to venue capacity guidelines.

Some activities are only appropriate for attendees aged over 15 and this is indicated in the activity description. If you have any questions about whether an activity is appropriate for your child, please contact the team

While visiting St Lucia campus with young family, we recommend a visit to the Recreation Precinct Playground.

How can I catch up with my classmates at Back to UQ?

We encourage you to organise a group of your classmates to meet up at Back to UQ – our end-of-day ‘Sunset drinks at Patina’ are the perfect opportunity for this, or you could book a table for lunch at Patina Alumni Court. For assistance with sending a call-out to your cohort to invite them to catch up with you on the day, you can contact the team

How will I know if any of my classmates are attending?

For privacy reasons, we can't to share or publish names of attendees – we recommend contacting your classmates directly to encourage them to come along.

What do I do if any of the tours or talks I want to attend are booked out?  Can I join a waitlist?

We have a range of talks and tours on offer.  If any book out, we can look to repeat the activity, so we suggest you join the waitlist to ensure you will be the first to know if additional talks and tours are added to the program. You can join the waitlist for booked-out activities via the online booking form.

What is the dress code for the day?  Is there a dress code for sunset drinks?

There is no dress code for Back to UQ - dress comfortably for a big day of fun. ‘Sunset drinks at Patina’ and some tours will be held outside (weather allowing), as indicated in the activity details on the booking form. Please ensure you wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for all outdoor functions. If touring one of the labs, closed-in footwear will be required. This will be noted clearly in the activity description on the online registration form.

Can I buy food and drink on the day?

A range of food and beverage options will be available on the day, including a number of on-campus cafes and food trucks. For a special sit-down dining experience, you can book a table for lunch at Patina Alumni Court. Some Back to UQ activities include refreshments for attendees – this is noted in the activity description. Another option is to bring a picnic lunch with you and enjoy this in our leafy grounds.

I am having issues with the registration page. What do I do?

If you are having any issues registering for this event, please contact the team.

Can I register and pay on the day?

We highly recommend you register in advance, to make your experience as smooth as possible, ensure you don't miss out on any activities, and avoid unnecessary delays when you arrive on campus. If you have not registered, we will have iPads available for you to check-in and pay on the spot at our registration table, located in Alumni Court. Please note that we cannot accept cash payments.

Can I get a refund for my ticket to 'Sunset drinks at Patina' if I have to isolate due to COVID-19?

Yes, we are happy to refund your ticket should you be required to isolate. Please contact the team (uqalumni@uq.edu.au) for assistance.

Will there be any activities at Gatton and Herston campuses?

This year, as Back to UQ is a new event, we're only running activities at St Lucia. We hope to expand to include activities at other campuses in future.
