What is UQ ChangeMakers?
UQ ChangeMakers is a UQ affinity program driven by our global network of alumni.
You can now stay closely connected to a global cohort of thought leaders and innovators through the UQ ChangeMakers platform.
Some of the ways you can be a part of our ChangeMaker network include:

- Attending a ChangeMaker flagship event around the world
- Participating in mentoring via the UQ ChangeMakers platform

How do I add ChangeMakers to my mobile?
For Android
1. Open the URL on your mobile browser
changemakers.app.uq.edu.au
2. Click 'sign in' on the top right-hand corner
3. Tap 'add to home screen' twice
For iOS
1. Open the URL via Safari (other browsers won't work)
changemakers.app.uq.edu.au
2. Select the sharing icon at the bottom of the browser page
3. Tap ‘Add to Home Screen’
How can the UQ ChangeMakers platform benefit me?
As a UQ ChangeMaker, you can gain from professional development and mentoring opportunities and exchange ideas and build lifelong networks with like-minded individuals. The ChangeMakers platform takes industry and geographical barriers away – letting you access your global alumni community like never before!
UQ ChangeMakers is designed to expose you to new opportunities within your alumni community, assist in opening doors to industry and help you achieve your professional and personal goals.

What are the ChangeMaker flagship events?
The UQ ChangeMaker flagship events are part of an exciting global initiative which is connecting UQ alumni around the world.
The events are designed to address trending topics in your local area with a specific focus on career enhancement and professional development.
Each event will feature a leading alumni ChangeMaker in their field, a UQ academic and industry supporter.
Events: How do I access events if they are not in my location?
Most ChangeMaker events are hosted online (as well as in-person) and are therefore available to you no matter where you are in the world.
If you miss our live event, we’ll be in touch afterwards with the event recording or podcast, and a thought leadership piece discussing the topic in more detail. Simply register for the event via the UQ ChangeMakers platform to be kept in the loop!
As a volunteer, what type of activities can I be involved with?
The benefits of volunteering are endless – you can enhance your career, forge lifelong friendships, meet alumni leaders in your field and many more.
There are a number of activities you can be involved with as a volunteer including:
- Mentoring via UQ ChangeMakers
- Welcoming new graduates
- Host an event
- Activating your location or interest-based group on UQ ChangeMakers
- Host a student in your workplace

How do I get in touch with other alumni?
The UQ ChangeMakers platform lets you harness the power of your global community of 340,000+ alumni like never before! Reach across industries and continents to make otherwise unlikely connections via the platform.

How does mentoring work on UQ ChangeMakers?
When you join the UQ ChangeMakers platform, you'll be asked whether you're willing to mentor or would like to be mentored. Once you're on the platform, you can navigate to a tab on the left that says 'mentoring'. From here you can begin browsing the mentor opportunities available, by industry and location!
Mentoring on UQ ChangeMakers is suitable for all ages and stages in your career whether you are a recent graduate, professional or senior executive.
You can join as a mentor or mentee depending on where you’re at in your career and what your goals are.

Does UQ ChangeMakers have any community guidelines?
Yes! All users of UQ ChangeMakers are expected to abide by The University of Queensland's Social Media Community Guidelines.
The University of Queensland (UQ) values social media as a space to share experiences and information, and create lasting connections. We encourage learning, respectful discussion and academic debate, and we welcome contributions to our social media platforms, as long as they contribute to a safe and vibrant online community.
UQ’s community includes current students, future students, alumni, professional and academic staff, stakeholders, industry partners and members of the public. Content posted, or commented on, by any individual is the opinion of the poster and is not necessarily representative of UQ.
UQ does not discriminate against individual views, but reserves the right to delete or moderate any of the following within its online communities:
Violent, obscene, profane, racist, homophobic, transphobic, denigrating or generally hateful comments
Sexually explicit content and content commenting on sexuality or gender (assumed or otherwise)
Content that aims to blackmail / manipulate an individual
Commenting on a person’s appearance, e.g. rating a person’s attractiveness or stating they’re ‘asking for it’
Comments that threaten to, or aim to harm the reputation of any person or organisation
Unauthorised commercial solicitations (such as spam)
Comments suggesting or encouraging illegal activity
Multiple off-topic posts or repetitive posts that are copied and pasted
Personal information including, but not limited to, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, or identification numbers.
If there is activity you find offensive as a user, please report it using the moderation tools of the social media platform it was viewed on, and if necessary, notify the social media account’s administrator via direct message or email.
